Mrs. Sonya J. Lacy is an anointed woman of God who is blessed with many God-given gifts. A native of Valley, Alabama, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from the Auburn University School of Business. She has also completed an Initial Certification Program in Early Childhood at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. She earned a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (Gr. K-12) at Walden University. She is a 2012 graduate of Mercer University with an Educational Specialist iTeacher Leadership and a 2018 graduate with a Leadership Endorsement Tier 2.
Mrs. Lacy has faithfully served the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church Family Decatur, GA under the leadership of Pastor Jerry D. Black as a Children Ministry Coordinator. She now serves as the Christian Education Director for the Gilead Christian Church in Riverdale, GA under the leadership of Pastor John R. Lacy. Her service also extends beyond her church family to include previous appointments as the Northeast Regional Youth Director of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, INC. Mrs. Lacy currently is an instructor for the Congress of Christian Education the State of Georgia, an auxiliary to the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
Mrs. Lacy is a gifted Christian Education Specialist, a chosen disciple of Christ and a dedicated community servant. She is a certified Public School Teacher for the State of GA and serves as an Instructional Support Teacher at Starling Elementary School in Grayson, GA. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter in Lawrenceville where she has served as chaplain since 2022 to present.
Mrs. Lacy has received many awards and accolades for her service to the Body of Christ. She was awarded the Certificate of Leadership in Children’s Work by the National Congress of Christian Education. She is also the Outstanding EDS Student for Mercer University Atlanta Campus 2012 Graduating Class. Mrs. Lacy was honored at the 2014 Teacher of the Year for the Regional Congress of Christian Education with the Sunday School Publishing Board. She is also a two-time Gwinnett County Public Schools Local School Teacher of the Year (2011 & 2024).
Sonya J. Lacy is the loving wife of Pastor John R. Lacy and the mother of two wonder sons Reuben ( Dustyn) and Jeremy. She is a Glam-ma to Nolon, Natalie, and Nehemiah. The Lacy Family resides in Snellville, GA. She is a vessel to God’s Glory and striving to serve the Body of Christ through prayerfully and enthusiastically training others to pass on God’s Word through sound doctrine and Christian Service. Sonya Lacy has many spiritual gifts which God uses in extraordinary way.
